About My Works

When a piece of iron is not mechanically processed but manually bent into half, twisted, or smashed, a shape beyond imagination is born because of the metal's hardness that inhibits free forming. Though it initially takes gnarled and twisted shape, my sculpture emerges through a series of selection processes.

""Pouch like one"-- I let starting structure takes a form of enclosed membrane. Although the material is inorganic metal, it already bears soft expression of living organic being. In the enclosed membrane, its surface and below already contain the final and inevitable form of my sculpture.
My creative process first begins with a vague image, which eventually metamorphoses into it via my encounters with organic concavo-convex shapes.
